Introduction to Business Models 101 (Glendale area, Southwest Calgary)
Program description: The Business Model is a powerful tool for entrepreneurs and business professionals to conceptualize, design, and analyze business models. This introductory course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to create, iterate, and validate business models. Whether a student wants to start a new venture or innovate within an existing organization in the future, this course will provide them with the fundamental knowledge and insights to succeed in the dynamic business landscape. By the end of this course, students will be able to: • Understand the fundamentals of the Business Model Canvas and its role in business strategy. • Create and refine a business model. • Identify and analyze key components of a business model, including customer segments, value propositions, channels, revenue streams, and more. • Develop plans for customer acquisition and retention. • Provide preliminary assessment for the feasibility and sustainability of a business model. • Collaborate effectively with team members in business model development. • Present and communicate a business model effectively to others. We will cover the following areas: • Overview of the nine building blocks • Case studies of successful companies using the BMC • Identifying customer segments • Creating customer personas • Crafting unique value propositions • Designing effective distribution channels • Building customer relationships • Revenue model selection • Identifying critical resources & key activities • Establishing strategic partnerships • Outsourcing vs. in-house capabilities • Analyzing cost structures • Developing a basic financial plan • Testing, iterating, and pitching your business model Our programs not only educate students in business, finance, and entrepreneurship, but also foster the development and enhancement of essential soft skills, including: • Communication • Collaboration and Teamwork • Creativity and Innovation • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving • Leadership and Responsibility
